Awning Manufacturing

We at Sign Me Up Direct Wholesale employ a highly trained fabrication staff using the latest welding technologies to produce a consistent grade of superior awning signs. The work that is done in our fabrics department, electrical area, graphics department, and welding division is second to none in the industry.

Our various departments each conduct their own quality control throughout the stages of fabrication. Quality control isn’t at the end of the line. It’s up and down the line, integral to every stage and every step in our fabrication process.

Our fabric department is well equipped with the latest equipment in fabric production. Sign Me Up Direct Wholesale can offer many different techniques and styles to complete your job. Each job is cut and sewn to your job specifications and expectations.

We frame with aluminum extrusions to form our awnings. It’s stronger, durable and lighter than the extrusions used by other awning makers. All welds are ground down to eliminate sharp edges that could tear the fabric. Silver aluminum aerosol is used to coat the weld and conceal any black residue from production. You may even opt to paint the entire awning frame for a more appealing look.

The aluminum frames can be painted for color matching or coordination with awning fabrics and existing building motif. We use the extensive and industry standard, Matthews Painting System. Their paints can be matched to several popular paint brands or branding color specs.

Sign Me Up Direct Wholesale utilizes only one method when fabricating and welding awnings. That is the staple-in system for attaching the fabric to the actual frame for a tighter fit to the frame than other attachment methods. The awning fabric is stretched onto its frame and stapled into a staple-groove formed in the actual frame extrusion. Next, a plastic awning trim is wedged into the staple groove, hiding the staples while creating a sharp, clean-line appearance. A Tighter fit means better durability.

Our fabrication method offers you a few choices when it pertains to lighting. Choose durable integrated backlit configurations or external gooseneck fixtures.

We fabricate awning and install double-lamp high output awning fixtures with daylight lamps in all backlit awnings. The lighting is highly durable and much brighter than cool white lamps ensuring proper and even illumination.

Standard awnings can be economically illuminated with gooseneck fixtures. Gooseneck lighting is available in a wide variety of colors with powder-coated finishes that stand up and stand out.

We currently offer fabric awnings in a wide variety of opaque and backlit fabrics. We carry brands like Sunbrella, Exotic, and Coolibrite.

Sometimes the projects calls for a classic approach. An opaque awning can be just as impactful. Try out the sunbrella fabric line for your next awning.

Taking an awning and making your message or logo light up on the face of your awning is the eye-catching awning your customer needs. Awnings can be seen at night as well as the daytime. Now that you have decided to have a Backlit Awning now all you have to do is choose between ERADICABLE and NON-ERADICABLE back lit fabric.

For backlit awnings, an eradication process is used that involves reverse-masking of areas where graphics will be layed down. A solution called Cooli-magic removes the color from the fabric on those areas–allowing the eradicated letter and/or graphic to illuminate when backlit. For graphics on acrylic fabrics, we utilize a heat- transfer application to place vinyl graphics directly onto the fabric. Some people love the look of heat-transferred graphics to the traditional painted-on graphics because they have sharper lines and cleaner edges.

For use on awnings, canopies, and vestibules where graphics on non-backlit fabrics are specified, heat transfer vinyl graphics are available in any adhesive vinyl color. Computer-cut vinyl material is heat-bonded to the substrate fabric. These graphics works well on fabrics such as Sunbrella. Digital heat transferred graphics are also available. We can use this technology when logos, multicolor graphics are needed to be positioned on the awning.

For backlit awnings, canopies, and vestibules where dark color graphics are required on a light color background, adhesive vinyl provides an economical alternative to the entire eradication process.
Colors choices are limited.

Typically used on backlit awnings, canopies, and flexible sign faces where white graphics are used on a single color background. Translucent eradicable vinyl fabrics are used and the graphics created by chemically erasing the color surface using a computer-cut stencil mask to reveal the white fabric base.

Same as eradicated graphics, except one color may be used on a different color background instead of white only. Translucent eradicable vinyl colors are created by eradicating the color surface using a computer-cut stencil mask to reveal the white substrate, then applying he desired translucent vinyl film into the eradicated area displaying the desired color.

This process is similar to vinyl graphics overlay, except full-color inset graphics may be used on a color background. After the eradication process, we would then apply a digitally printed translucent vinyl film into the eradicated area for full color graphics. This digitally printed graphic would be laminated with a protective coating stopping the graphics from fading.
